| It is Christmas in Houston and this episode sees the return of Sgt. Esteban Gutierrez. The Matamoros police officer has tracked a man who kidnapped a baby from a busy Matamoros street. Once again, the Knights convince Esteban that if he wants to catch the perpetrator, he will have to work with them. Their investigation begins with a couple who have unknowlngly adopted the kidnapped baby and ends with a lawyer who handles private adoptions. Even though they gather enough evidence to arrest the lawyer, the couple hires a very good lawyer who promises to keep the process in the court system for years, effectively preventing the child from being returned to his parents. In addition, the man who originally took the baby has also managed to escape. Esteban, not trusting the system, takes the baby and makes a run for Mexico. Joe and Levon go after him but as they approach the border, they learn that Esteban is being held for kidnapping in Brownsville. Before they get to the Brownsville police station, Levon makes a call. As they wait, the couple who adopted the baby arrive to identify Esteban as the man who took their baby. Then the baby's real parents arrive, and the adoptive parents see the anguish that the loss of their baby is causing the real parents. When is comes time to identify Esteban, the couple changes their mind and the baby is returned to its parents. As Esteban thanks Joe and Levon, he tells them that he must now go after the man who kidnapped the baby and Joe lends him one of his guns. Back in Houston, Joe and Levon celebrate Christmas by attending the party Chicken sponsers at his restaurant for local orphans. As they watch the children, the couple who had adopted the kidnapped baby come into the restaurant and join into the party. Joe asks Levon if he has been making 'secret' phone calls again. As Joe and Levon leave the restaurant, Esteban is waiting outside. He returns Joe's gun, although, he says he didn't need it. However, he had to leave Matamoros rather abruptly and he has come to Houston, hoping for the help of friends. Levon feels that the HPD might have a place for him. When Joe looks at Levon skeptically, Levon says "They hired you, didn't they?" |
