If Candlemas be fair and bright, Winter has another flight. If Candlemas brings clouds and rain, Winter will not come again. |
So, what will our favorite furry forecaster have to say this year? On February 2, Puxitawny Phil will once again be asked to make his annual prediction. Will spring be just around the corner? Or are we in for six more weeks of winter? |
Phil began making his predictions in 1887 but originally this was a secret ceremony with only his prediction being revealed. |
It has since grown into a national media event as people gather at Gobbler's Knob, a wooded knoll just outside of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. |

In the movie "Groundhog Day," Punxsutawney is the setting for the story about an arrogant weatherman, Phil Connors, who is doomed to repeat the day until he "sees the error of his ways." |
