Crochet Wishes

A CROCHETER'S PRAYER
by Virginia Swanton

May my fingers stay nimble,
My mind remain clear
So that I may crochet every day;
Every year,
May the works of my hands always
Give me great pride.
Reflecting the good that God
Gave me inside.
May my creative appetite
Always be fed,
And, O! may I never, please,
Run out of thread.

May you always have 4-5 yards left on your spool and not be 4-5 yards short

May your dye lot not be discontinued

May the dog never eat your favorite hook and may the cat not chew the yarn

May you always find the right hook when you need it

May your DH not lean on your hook and break it

May your skein not tangle near the end

May your gauge always be right and your edges straight

May you not go out and buy a hook you thought you had lost,
only to find that your favorite recliner chair had 'borrowed' it for a while

May your yarn only split when you are weaving in ends

May you never loose your pattern in the middle of your project

May your 4 year old son (bless his naughty little heart)
NEVER cut up the beautiful square you just finished for your exchange partner

May you always have satisfaction in your work
no matter how small or imperfect
because you are carrying on a wonderful art that you should be proud of

May you remember what crochet leaflets you have at home and not buy duplicates

May your husband never offer to "help" you unravel yarn

May you never crochet a sweater and to find out, when you are finished,
you have gained weight and it doesn't fit

May your family understand
that when you go in a craft store...you stop being a mother, wife, sister, etc.

May you never leave your cat (unknown to you) closed in your "yarn" room
for a couple of hours while shopping...
